Vic:Jury in cop murders trial to continue deliberations tomorrow

The jury in the trial of two men charged with the murder of two Melbourne policemenhave been locked in for the night and will continue their deliberations tomorrow.

And they'll be sent home for Christmas if they fail to reach a verdict by tomorrowafternoon, returning on Boxing Day.

The Supreme Court trial of 49-year-old BANDALI MICHAEL DEBS, of Narre Warren, and 22-year-oldJASON JOSEPH ROBERTS, of Cranbourne, began on August 14, amid tight security.

They're charged with murdering 35-year-old Sergeant GARY SILK and Senior ConstableROD MILLER, aged 34, who were gunned down during a surveillance operation on August 16,1998.

The two officers were shot after pulling over a suspect car just after midnight duringa stakeout of the Silky Emperor Chinese Restaurant in Moorabbin, in Melbourne's south-east.
